Dear White Friend was published in July 2021 and written by Melvin Gravely, II. As a businessman and civic leader, Gravely writes about his own experiences and encounters to shed light on the struggles and realities of racism in America.

my contribution

I supported the launch of Dear White Friend by creating a simple brand identity, designing a website to support book sales and PR, and further marketing of the book through social media and content curation.

In less than a month, Mel and I collaborated on creating a simple brand identity and website that would support book sales upon launch, share testimonials for the book, and share press and media around the book.

speaking engagements

After the release of Dear White Friend, Mel was asked to speak at notable organizations such as Fifth Third Bank, Kroger, and Tugboat Institute. This required furthering the DWF brand identity by creating presentation decks for his engagements.

community newsletter

To increase Dear White Friend's following and audience engagement, we created The Objective, a monthly newsletter including a blog post written by Mel about a current event with regards to racial equity and inclusion.

Realizing that Dear White Friend was being read by organizations, corporations, and small groups, we wanted to support the conversation through the creation of a discussion guide. This would increase engagement with our readers, encourage open dialogue and could create ideas for equity in the workplace and beyond.
